The Wisdom of Space

This video reminds me of my science class at primary until senior high school. I do love space since I learned “Sistem Tata Surya” in one of the chapters at science. Space, galaxy, etc. makes me open my eyes that there are larger world out there. A world I’ve never imagined. And when I think about it, I feel small, like really small (I called it ‘tiny little creature’ sometimes hehe).

I also remember a book by Carl Sagan entitled Pale Blue Dot: A Vision of the Human Future in Space that makes me fond of his writing and look for more of his works.

“We are like butterflies who flutter for a day and think it is forever.”

— Carl Sagan

We are a pale blue dot in this massive galaxy, tiny and irrelevant. I want to remember this thing as a kind of reminder to always be kind (in this cruel world) and do kindness even in a small way.

So, here is one quote that I love from Pale Blue Dot: A Vision of the Human Future in Space:

“Look again at that dot. That’s here. That’s home. That’s us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every father and mother, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politicians, every “superstar”, every “supreme leader”, every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there — on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.”
