On Becoming Ourselves
“Who Am I?”
Have you asked yourself that question? “Who are you” “Do you like your personality?”
It’s easy becoming our true self when we were a child. We don’t have to be worried about other people’s opinions. We don’t have to be scared whether they will hate us or accept us as we are. We just need to be ourselves.
However, things are changing when we grow up. Whether we like it or not, we try, try and try to “fit in/blend in” the society. We are afraid if people do not like our true colors. Even though, deep down in our hearts, we just want to be ourselves. Nothing more.
So, who are we? Are we something that we find? Or something that we create along the time?
I think we are the accumulation of our thoughts, our experiences, and the lessons that we learned along the way. We learned from anyone else. We learned from people’s behaviors. We learned from their experiences, mistakes, and achievements. So, in the end, we can create our own self. We can become ourselves. The one that we see in front of the mirror every day. The first one that we trust. That’s us.
I hope we can become our true self. No matter how weird we are.
Because we don’t have to be accepted by others,
Rather, we have to accept ourselves.
